I bought Donys Purain (known to her friends as Bethany or Bear) in October 1996 at The Welsh Pony and Cob Sales in Builth Wells from John and Jacky Kirk.
Bethany went on to excel in both Ridden and WHP M&M Show classes including qualifying for Horse of The Year Show WHP Championship in 1999. Following a facial injury in 2001 I decided to retire Bethany from the show circuit and let her become my founder broodmare for my small stud.
Bethany went onto to produce three super offspring - Winwood Sapphire, Winwood Mystic Topaz and Winwood Tigers Eye. She was a super Mum and loved her last few years being out at grass with the youngsters.
Tragically in May 2008 I had to have her put down after she fractured her pelvis in the field. Bethany was a fantastic mare who was a pleasure to of had around and is very much missed by us all.
